Diaconate Ordination Weekend: 16-17 July
Father Edmund
9 Jul 2022
With only a week to go until the celebration weekend of Tony’s Ordination on Saturday 16 July and the parish Mass at the field at Hooton followed by a parish lunch and reception on Sunday 17 July, I share with you some logistical updates, especially for those travelling on one of the coaches provided by the parish.
Saturday 16 July: Ordination Day at Shrewsbury Cathedral
If you have booked a place on the coach and no longer require it please leave a message on the Parish Office voicemail: 01513555877.
The coaches will depart:
COACH 1 St Mary of the Angels 9.15am and then travel to Our Lady Star of the Sea for 9.30am departure
COACH 2 St Saviour 9.30am departure
Coaches will then travel to Shrewsbury for the 12 noon Ordination Mass. Please note the coaches will drop off at St Chad’s Anglican Church which is a short walk as parking restrictions do not allow coaches to stop directly outside the Cathedral.
Coaches will depart promptly from Shrewsbury at 4pm from St Chad.
Sunday 17 July: Parish Celebration and Deacon Tony’s First Parish Mass as Deacon
The Sunday schedule will be:
16 July Saturday Vigils
St Saviour 5pm
Our Lady Star of the Sea 6pm
17 July Sunday Masses
Our Lady Star of the Sea 9am (for those unable to attend the 11am)
The Field at St Mary of the Angels 11am
Please pass this on to those you know who come to Sunday Masses as I would be sorry to see any of our community make a journey or special effort to come to a Mass that, for this weekend only, is transferred to Hooton for Deacon-to-be Tony’s celebration.
Do bring your own chair if possible. Afterwards there will be a parish lunch in the garden and field with celebratory drinks for everyone. My thanks to all those who have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure the logistics are taken care of and the Liturgy and catering prepared. Let’s all pray for good weather!
