Welcome to the Hooton & Ellesmere Port Pastoral Area, where a dedicated team of clergy works together to serve and guide our community in faith. Our parishes are not only places of worship but vibrant hubs of fellowship, service, and outreach, where we grow together in Christ and support each other through various social events and projects.

Our Social Projects & Events:

The Social Events Committee, formed in September 2023, has organized successful events like the Quiz Night, Christmas Fairs, and a popular TV and Film Night. In 2024, £1,842 was raised for the parish. The committee is also improving facilities with new stage lighting and plans for Wi-Fi. Committed to uniting the parish, they are expanding activities and welcoming new members to strengthen the community.

Sacraments

A Sacrament is a special ‘Act’ or ‘Ceremony’ of the Church that marks important moments in people’s relationship with God. The Catholic Church recognizes seven sacraments, each serving as a visible sign of God’s grace and presence in our lives. These sacred rituals guide us in our spiritual journey, helping us grow closer to God and live out our faith more fully.

The seven sacraments are:

Baptism: The first sacrament of initiation, through which we are welcomed into the Church and cleansed of sin, beginning our life in Christ.
Eucharist: Also known as Holy Communion, this sacrament nourishes us with the Body and Blood of Christ, strengthening our bond with Him and with the Church community.
Confirmation: This sacrament deepens our relationship with the Holy Spirit, confirming our commitment to Christ and empowering us to live out our faith courageously.
Reconciliation: Also called Confession, this sacrament offers forgiveness for sins committed after baptism, helping us to experience God’s mercy and restore our relationship with Him.
Anointing of the Sick: A sacrament of healing, this is offered to those who are ill or suffering, providing comfort, strength, and spiritual healing.
Marriage: The sacrament of Matrimony unites a man and a woman in a lifelong covenant of love and faithfulness, reflecting the love Christ has for the Church.
Holy Orders: This sacrament is for those called to serve as deacons, priests, or bishops, dedicating their lives to serving the Church and leading the faithful in worship and ministry.

Each sacrament is an important milestone in the life of a Catholic, helping us grow in faith, grace, and love for God and one another. Through these sacred rites, we experience the transformative power of God’s love and are empowered to live according to His will.
